First fundraiser-- a huge success!!!

May 31st, June 1st & June 2nd.

We had the McDermott Guatemalan Adoption Garage Sale this past weekend. We were so overwhelmed with all the support and encouragement of so many family and friends. We asked our family and friends for donated items to sell at our garage sale and had so many people come through for us. About 95% of what was displayed at the garage sale was donated. We had many large items like: a 10-speed bike, 2 recliners, a weight bench & weights, a filing cabinet, 2 rocking chairs, a rowing exercise machine, an electric organ, and a 19" color t.v. Of course, we had some clothes, appliances, toys, books, shoes and some smaller items. On Saturday, Phil brought down our grill and grilled hot dogs. We sold an assortment of pop and asked for donations for the hot dogs. On Friday and Saturday, so many people were generous with their donations they placed in our donation jar.We were extremely surprised and happy with the amount that we raised. One of the highlights of our garage sale was having my best friend, Ann-Marie drive up from Kansas City on Friday night to help us on Saturday. Thank you to Moriah, Carol & Bill for collecting money, to Mike for helping set up, to Aunt Connie for pricing items and bringing lunch on Friday, to Linda for bringing breakfast and helping organize items on the driveway, and Connie for helping on Friday. A HUGE thank you goes out to everybody who donated items, we would not have been able to do this without you!!

Now onto our next fundraiser!! Our Mystery Box Dinner will be Thursday, June 28th in our backyard. We will be sending out invitations soon to our family and friends. What this fundraiser will entail is for the invited guests to make or buy a dinner that you would enjoy eating and bring with you. The dinner should be boxed up and nicely decorated to be auctioned off.
